Abstract

A solar energy trap has a platform which is a hollow inflatable envelope made of flexible material over which a heat transfer liq can flow and above which is a transparent cover. The hollow base provides thermal insulation from the local substrate, pref is black on its upper face to absorb heat passing through and trapped beneath the cover. Pref the base resembles a quilt pattern beach mattress inflated with a flexible foam or with air, so that the base is readily folded and carried for installation or removal. The base is surrounded by sidewalls pref. of plastic sheet fixed to the base by welding, adhesives or sliding fastener.
