Abstract

Inverted glue for sizing paper in the pulp or at the surface contains an aq. dispersion of opt. reinforced, hydrogenated or disproportioned resin or a mixt. of similar resins, and, as dispersant, water (in)soluble or dispersible cpd(s) which give in water, in soln. or dispersion, anion(s) of formula (I) of (II) (where R is 8-9C linear or branched alkyl R1 is 12-20C linear or branched alk(en)yl and n is a no. such that 21-76 wt. % of the mol wt. are provided by -OCH2CH2- gps. The glue can be incorporated to paper pulp or to the surface of the paper. Its prepn. does not involve use of solvents or protective colloids, and high pressure, but can be effected withcold water.
