Abstract

The prefabricated quay or underwater wall is constructed without piles, caisson or curtain walling. a shallow trench is excavated and filled with a bed of sand followed by a regulating course put in by a diver. The base beam, panel and collar beam are then fitted. The units are in pre-cast reinforced concrete and the panel centres slope backwards. The base beams have tongue and mortise joints pierced by holes which continue up through all the units. Vertical metal rods lock the whole together.
