Abstract

La présente invention concerne un procédé perfectionné pour récupérer des constituants de valeur par traitement de substances usées et résidus produits au cours des processus électrolytiques de préparation de l'aluminium par réduction. Ce traitement consiste en une pyrohydrolyse dans un réacteur à lit fluidisé. On utilise un courant gazeux, contenant au moins environ 90 % en volume de O2 , pour la fluidisation et pour la combustion du carbone. Ce procédé permet d'obtenir un gaz effluent de teneur substantiellement accrue en HF, lequel peut être utilisé pour la fabrication, en présence d'alumine hydratée, d'un produit contenant au moins 85 % en poids de AlF3 . Le gaz effluent de la pyrohydrolyse, de teneur accrue en HF, peut être aussi utilisé pour produire de l'acide fluorhydrique de concentration élevée avec un apport énergétique beaucoup plus faible que dans les systèmes usuels de concentration.
