Abstract

The power splitting circuit is esp. for domestic use where two circuit loops are required, one being feedback controlled in some way, e.g. thermostatically controlled radiators, and the other a free circuit. The feedback controlled circuit limits and progressively reduces the load current after reaching some predetermined level such that the power is available to the second circuit without the use of contactor systems and more economical use is made of the power available. The circuits are taken off the public supply in parallel, control of the heating circuits being by a transformer is adjustable by a potentiometer feeding two operational amplifiers in series which in turn regulates a classic thyristor circuit in series with the heating circuit.
