Abstract
Thermoplastic tubes are converted into the inner walls of a composite tubular reservoir by clampint the ends of a length of heat-softened pipe in a mould cavity and blow-moulding the thermoplastic body to expand most of the tube to the internal dia. required of the reservoir. The dilated tube is then surrounded by a mechanically strong support. Used for mfr. of reservoirs of e.g. 100 litres capacity to contain e.g. hot or corrosive liquids. Composite walls with internal shells of e.g. chlorinated PVC, polypropylene, ABS, are lighter than conventional steel vessels, corrosion resistant, and have better thermal insulation characteristics, e.g. for storing fluids from solar energy heating systems.
