Abstract
The tank is used to store solar energy and consists of several banks of tubes inside a rigid container (14). Each bank is in the form of a flat spiral and is supported on separators (8) held against the container inner surface (22). The tubes (2) are made from het conducting flexible silicone rubber are filled with a material (1) which absorbs heat on melting and returns it on solidifying. The separators are finned to permit circulation of a heat transfer fluid, this latter supplying and picking up the stored heat as required.
