Abstract

The lockable shackle may be used to secure a crash helmet to the handle bar of the motor cycle. An elongated block (5) has two transverse bores locating the legs of a slidable stirrup (4) to which the helmet may be secured. These accommodate the cylinder lock (2) and a lever clamp (7 to 8) at its opposite ends. The clamp is used to attach the device to the handle bar and has fixed (6) and movable (7) half round jaw, the latter is mounted on a rocking lever with a catch spring (9). When the stirrup is fully inserted one (4a) of its legs engages a cranked lever extremity (8) to lock the clamp in the closed position. The other leg (4b) of the stirrup is locked in position by the bolt (3) of the cylinder lock.
