Abstract

Tapes cut from a reel and a supply of loose buckles are threaded together and the tapes are sewn, to form brassiere shoulder straps, automatically. The device includes a first assembly for cutting the tape along a defined axis; a second assembly for threading the buckle according to a defined axis of threading and a third assembly for making the seam which defines the axis of the exit of the tape. Transfer mechanisms are provided between the first and second assemblies and between the second and third assemblies. The axis along which the tape is cut is parallel to the axis of the exit of the tape, whilst the axis of threading is inclined to the others at about 45 degrees. The machine is compact and eliminates the circumstantial effort of female workers previously necessary for the assembly of all kinds of straps formed by tapes and buckles for the making up of garments.
