Abstract

1376699 Attaching fasteners B & W MFG Co Inc 31 Jan 1973 [2 Feb 1972] 4855/73 Heading D1G [Also in Division E2] A sliding clasp fastener 10 comprising two tapes 12, 14 is sewn to two portions 22, 24 of a garment 20 by two seams 42, 44 and a transverse seam 48, or two such seams 48, 50 as shown, provided to form an end stop for the fastener and secure the end of the fastener to the garment. The slider (52, Fig. 6 not shown) may be applied at another work station. As described the seams 42, 44 are stitched simultaneously on a twin needle sewing machine and the right hand needle then disabled to permit its partner to form seams 48 and 50 as a continuation of seam 42. Seams 48 and 50 may overlap. The method is employed where the fastener is supplied in the form of a continuous strip and is severed at 46 on completion of seams 42, 44.
