Abstract
1,176,712. Strapping machines. NICHIRO KOGYO K.K. 31 Jan., 1967, No. 4717/67. Heading B8C. Strapping is guided into the usual strap guides 4b, 4a (Fig. 3) encircling an article by an open-ended slot 12 in a member 11 which is retracted laterally to permit the two strap ends to be bonded together by being pressed upwardly against an anvil 6 (called a "slide table " in the Specification) which is subsequently retracted laterally to free the straps when the article is to be removed. As shown, the free end of the strapping is clamped against the anvil 6, while the strapping is tensioned, by moving the terminal part of the guide 4a upwardly under the action of a cam 16. A spring-operated presser member 35, which presses the tapes against the anvil 6 to bond them together, also carries a knife 36 for cutting off the standing end. The tape is fed by a constantly rotating roller, and tensioned by a roller constantly rotating in the opposite direction, pinch rollers being selectively engaged with one or other of the driving rollers.
