Abstract
1,164,779. Sewing machines. OPTI-HOLDING A.G. 20 Aug., 1968, No. 39697/68. Heading D1G. A tape of intermeshing sliding clasp fastener stringers is attached to overlapped folded edges of a garment in a twin needle sewing machine, by feeding the garment with one edge held at an angle to the horizontal at least during its passage under the needles. As shown, the presser foot carries forwardly-extending bars 12a, 12b to which are respectively secured slightly resilient blades 13 and 14 located in front of the needles. Blade 13 guides one edge horizontally, and blade 14 guides the other and overlapping edge upwardly and into correspondingly inclined groove 10 in a bar 4 also formed with needle-passing holes 9a, 9b. The edges while overlapping are thereby secured to the respective halves of the stringer tape 8.
