Abstract

The overhead cable support prevents movement of the cable under normal circumstances but allows it to slide in the event of cable breakage before distortion of the cable arms occurring. The support consists of two shaped clamp jaws and a sleeve designed to present a definite force level on the suspended cable. The lower jaw (1) which is approximately semicircular is arced to follow the cable (C) shaped and is integral with the suspension bracket (2). The upper jaw (3) is held over the lower by 'U' bolts (4) and traps the sleeve (7) centrally in matching recesses in both jaws.
