Abstract
Appts. consists of modules of floating material, the upper part acting as the solar collector. The collecting surface is pref. a metallic surface folded so as to form tubes of triangular section in which water can circulate. Insulating material is injected on the other face. When there is no sunshine, the water circuit is that of a standard pool, the water being drawn off by a pump through a bottom outlet and passing through a filter and a valve directing it to an inlet below the surface. In this case the collectors act as insulation and there is little loss. When the sunshine measured by a detector is sufficient, the detector brings about resetting of the valve so that the water flows to the distribution system and into the heated collecting surface and falls back into the pool until the detector measures insufficient sunshine and brings about return of the valve its original setting. When it is desired to use the pool, the collectors are withdrawn.
