Abstract
L'invention concerne l'industrie pharmaceutique. Elle a pour objet le p-hydroxymandélate de sodium ou de potassium monohydraté solide et un procédé pour l'isoler par effet de sel à partir d'un mélange de réaction classique entre le phénol et l'acide glyoxylique en présence d'hydroxyde de sodium ou de potassium à une température de 20 à 60 degrés C. Le produit de l'invention est un intermédiaire utile pour la préparation de l'aténolol qui est un agent de blocage beta -adrénergique.
