Abstract
The speed reversing gear, suitable for automobiles has two pulleys (B, C) mounted on bearings on a common shaft (E). The pulleys are drive from a third pulley (A) by means of an endless belt (G) which passes around a fourth pulley (D). With this arrangement, of belt and pulley the first two pulleys (B, C) rotate in opposite directions. A clutch (F) in the form of a cylinder with friction linings on its end faces can slide axially on the common shaft (E) and connect one or other of the two pulleys to the shaft according to the direction of rotation required.
