Abstract

The hull of a light craft is designed for speed and reduced immersion in the water. The lower part of the hull is triangular in section, with a channel down the centre forming a chamber, open at the front and closed at the rear. The bow of the craft tends to lift from the water, assisted by air trapped inside the chamber. The rear closed part can have two or more cut outs or channels, through which water trapped inside is forced outwards. These outlets are always submerged below the water level. A device may be installed to control discharge through these outlets.
