Abstract
A floating vessel to remove an oil slick from the surface of a sheet of water has openings at the forward end which are closed by float-controlled flaps except just below the water level. The entering fluid passes through the control part of the vessel where partitions with alternate passages at top and bottom decant the oil before the fluid leaves at the stern through a Y-duct. The decanted oil is drawn into storage tanks along the the ship's sides. This requires no chemical agents which may be detrimental to the environment. The vessel has an adequate capacity and is capable of function in rougher seas than conventional appliances.
