Abstract
The platform (1) supports a fixed or articulated column base (2) on a seat bed of soft superficial consistency. The platform is floated into position with the piles (5, 6) housed in the guides (8, 9), the platform is then sunk into the soft material (3) by ballast in the holders (28, 30), the stays (36) ensuring that the piles are vertical. When the platform is on the sea bed the piles are driven into the harder material (4) by hydraulic jacks pressing on top until the driving force is calculated to give the bearing force required of the column.
