Abstract

[Also in Division E1] A pillar 1 for supporting an offshore platform comprises a foot 2 resting on the sea bottom and having a cross-section greater than that of the pillar, and the pillar is anchored by an anchoring chain 12 wound around the lower part of the pillar. The anchoring chain, which is removable, is formed of concrete or cast-iron balls (9), Fig. 2a (not shown), fastened on a steel cable (10) and spaced apart from each other.
