Abstract

The cupola and has a fore-hearth is permanently connected to the cupola and has a taphole at its bottom. The desing ensures tht slag cannot enter the fore-hearth, that the melt level is constant in the cupola hearth, the slag syphon and the molten metal syphon and that the slag level is constant in the cupola hearth and the slag syphon.
