Abstract
The applicator is for a hot melt adhesive contained in an internally heated tank, and which is ejected by pressurised air directly through a nozzle on the tank. An air channel is connected via a control valve to a pressurized air source or to atmos. The tank contains a separating unit internally between adhesive and air channel. The separating unit consists of a sealing valve (40) e.g. a ball valve, with rapid ventilation outlet. The ball is moved in a bore by a pressure differential. The ball dia. is that of the valve bore, and the ball may be moved into engagement with a ring-shaped valve seat, to separate the air channel (18) from the tank (20).
