Abstract
The induction coil, esp. for vehicle starter motors, comprises flat wires whose cross-section is such that after winding the turns making up the coil mate with one another. The flat wire may have a V-shaped arc-shaped or omega-shaped cross-section. The outside of the apex of one V fits inside the apex of the adjacent V, and similarly for the arc and omega cross-sections. The advantage of profiling the flat wire in this way lies in preventing the separate turns moving relative to one another by more than a minimum amount.
