Abstract

1438441 Tyre bead cores INDUSTRIE PIRELLI SpA 19 June 1974 [28 June 1973] 27134/74 Heading B7C A tyre bead core comprises metal cords or wires 3 embedded in and separated from one another by a rubber compound 2 which is at least partially vulcanized in the as-manufactured state of the core prior to incorporation of the core into a tyre, the cords or wires being embedded in a strip of the compound so as to lie parallel to the length of the strip, the thickness of rubber compound separating each wire or cord from an adjacent surface of the strip being half the thickness of compound separating each wire or cord from a neighbouring wire or cord, and the strip being wound to form a coil consisting of a plurality of superimposed circumferential windings of the strip. In the illustrated embodiment the cords or wires 3 are arranged such that the thicknesses c and d are equal and in the range 0À2-0À5 mm., and the thicknesses a and b are equal and in the range 0À4-1À0 mm.
