Abstract

1,048,099. Pneumatic tyres. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. Ltd. (Deutsche Dunlop Gummi Compagnie A.G.). Feb. 22, 1964, No. 7499/64. Heading B7C. A tread reinforcement for a pneumatic tyre comprises two rings of flexible cord or wire located in spaced apart, parallel relationship, and a length of filamentary material extending around the rings and from one to the other in zig-zag manner. The filamentary material may be a continuous length of rubberized cord which is wound round the rings in a plurality of circumferential convolutions to form layers of parallel cords. Alternatively, the filamentary material may be a length of cord fabric wound around the rings so that adjacent edges of adjacent zig-zag formations are in abutting relationship. The latter embodiment may be built by drawing two parallel steel wires from between guiding rollers and winding the fabric round the wires, a length of the resultant strip being cut off and formed into an annulus.
