Abstract

The heating strip, which can be secured around the outside of a container (6) e.g. a spectrometer cell, comprises a flexible substrate with a layer of powdered conductive material. Two supply electrodes (4, 5) run parallel to one another along opposite side edges (2, 3) of the substrate. The heating current supplied to the electrodes (4, 5) may be regulated via a temp probe (12) within the container (6). Pref. the strip is formed by a paper or plastics web with a carbon coating the electrodes (4, 5) provided as a film of silver with a short end section of copper to allow soldering to the supply leads (16).
