Abstract

The typewriter has a movable typing head, a standard keyboard and a correction or cancel key. Symbols entered via the keyboard are fed via a symbol counter to a symbol store and simultaneously displayed in a single line window. The counter in conjunction with a lock unit in series with the printing head is used to release the stored symbols for printing out. If an error is seen in the text displayed in the window, it can be corrected by depressing the correction key erasing each symbol until the incorrect symbol is reached. When the store is full, the symbols are automatically typed out without the need to depress a key. Symbols may be continuously entered. At the end of a text the symbols remaining in the store are printed by operating the carriage return or tabulate key.
