Abstract

The battery has positive and negative main electrodes separated by two separators and immersed in an electrolyte. An additional electrode is located between the separators and is connected via an electrical impedance to the negative main electrode. The additional electrode is used to monitor the battery's charge state. The additional electrode (9) is completely immersed in the electrolyte (2) and against the separator (8) on the positive main electrode (5). The charging current is made to follow a specified inequality involving the additional electrode's signal current.
