Abstract
The use is proposed, in an alkaline battery cell, of a separator (7) comprising two membranes (a, a') of regenerated cellulose between which there is a jellified material (b). This separator is arranged between a nylon fabric (8) and a piece (6) which is absorbent to the electrolyte. A cathode material (3) is beyond this absorbent piece (6) whilst an anodic material (4) is beyond the nylon fabric (8). The whole is mounted in a case, two mutually insulated conducting parts (1, 2) of which form the electrical terminals of the battery cell. Such a separator reduces self-discharging and increases the lifetime of the battery. <IMAGE>
