A non-aqueous electrolyte, for use in an electric cell having a lithium negative electrode, comprises a solution of lithium perchlorate in a mixed solvent comprising tetrahydrofuran and a methyl-tetrahydrofuran, tetrahydropyran, isopropylamine, diethylamine, N-methylpyrrolidone or N-methylmorpholine. In examples, the cell also comprises a copper sulphide positive electrode and separators of cellulose or P.T.F.E. felted fabric.
