Abstract

Mortar compsns. comprise an aq. emulsion of an epoxy resin contg. a hydraulic binder. The compsns. can be used for filling cracks and other irregularities in concrete structures (e.g. walls). They can be applied in thick layers without setting problems due to incomplete water removal. The binder can be Portland cement, opt. mixed with sand or other aggregates. Other suitable binders are Ca aluminates and silicates, magnesia, lime and gypsum. The wt. of resin emulsion to binder is pref. such that the amt. of water in the emulsion corresponds to the amt. required to set the binder, generally 0.8-5:1 (esp. 1-3:1).
