Abstract

1311662 Cements IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 12 May 1970 [24 Feb 1969] 9690/69 Headings C1A and C1H An hydraulic binder is reduced to or below the M.P. of an aqueous setting agent and maintained at such temperature whilst adding the setting agent in particulate form, the temperature then being raised to thaw the agent. Specified binders are hemihydrate, anhydrite plus alum, plaster, stucco and cement, whilst the setting agent is ice which can contain a dye which indicates when mixing is complete. The method allows exact hydration, e.g. 18À5% ice added to hemihydrate to give the dihydrate. Optionals are clay, perlite, steel wire, Al.St, graphite, metal powders, silicones, glass fibre, asbestos, nylon and fibrillated polypropylene.
