Abstract
In a method of, and apparatus for, rendering or pointing (see Group XXIX) a non-aerated cementitious mortar may be used and made from a mix comprising 200 lb. sand, 50 lb. Portland cement, 40 lb. pulverised fuel ash, about 55 pints of water and 1/2 pint of an octyl cresol condensate sold under the trade name "Lissapol NN". About 1/4 lb. of sodium hexametaphosphate may be added, and sodium silicate is used as a quick setting agent. An alternative comprises 120 lb. sand, 60 lb. Portland cement, 40 lb. pulverised fuel ash, 30 lb. hydrated lime, 40-50 pints of water, and one pint of a vinsol resin sold under the trade name "Feb." Calcium chloride may be added. Instead of sodium silicate a slurry of calcium aluminate may be used. A further alternative may comprise 70 lb. sand, 10 lb. Portland cement, 80 lb. anionic aqueous bituminous emulsion, and 10 lb. mineral wool.
