Abstract

The method of attaching a two part ferrule to the end of a reinforced rubber hose (33) uses a press to force the two parts (23, 26) together. This gives a more positive connection than conventional methods where the outer part screws onto the inner part. The internally threaded (31) portion with which the inner part is integrally joined, has a ridge (27) immediately behind the head (23). The end (26) of the outer part has an internal ring having two faces (30, 37) which are forced squarely inside the ridge when locking pressure is applied. The interior of the outer part also contains a series of stepped square faces (24) which lock into the surface of the rubber tube giving a positive grip.
