Abstract

The window grille (5) is of a bonded laminar timber construction and is for utilisation in simulated Georgian style windows i.e. with the pane subdivided into smaller rectangular panes. The grillage is for insertion between the two interspaced panes (2) of a double glazed unit (1) and the laminar construction permits a thickness consistent with the narrower pane interspaces. The laminates (A) are constructed from timber fillets and are bonded by their major faces their neighbours. The joints between the constituent fillets of each laminate (A) are staggered relative to the joints in neighbouring laminates (B), thus, providing a rigid composite construction (5).
