Abstract

The installation comprises a highly heat conductive metal body containing a heat source and a heat sensitive probe joined by a conductive link to the wall of the pipe. The metal body is fitted to the outside of the pipe by soldering or other suitable means, with the heat sensor being near to the contact surface between the pipe and the metal body. The heat source may be an electric resistance situated in a hollowed out space in the metallic body. Monitoring is partic. important where, because of the use to which the fluid is put or for safety reasons, a flow variation is unacceptable. The appts. is simple. It only introduces a small heat charge into the fluid and has a satisfactory response time. It can be mounted on a pipe without major adaptations.
