Abstract
The device, intended to be inserted in a steam pipeline, comprises a casing (1) in which the steam condenses, provided with a single perforated baffle (5) arranged between the inlet (2) and the outlet (3) of the casing. The assembly is arranged so that a leak of steam brings about a pressure drop at the outlet (3) and consequently a change in the level of condensed water on either side of the baffle. The device further comprises means for detecting the water level, consisting of a single electrode (6) emerging into the casing and electrically insulated from a socket (7) also capable of being in contact with the condensed water. The electrode/socket assembly is placed in a position such that it detects a specific change in the water level. Detection takes place via an electric circuit comprising indicating means (9, 10), which is closed or open in the presence or absence of water between the electrode and the socket. The use of visible means which are easily obscured and which require some experience is thus avoided.
