Abstract

Raccordement de fibres optiques à habillage en matériau plastique où une certaine longueur de l'habillage est enlevée sur une extrémité de la fibre et est remplacée par un revêtement métallique très réfléchissant. Les fibres raccordées de cette manière peuvent être épissées avec des dispositifs de raccordement de fibre classiques, sans craindre une séparation de l'âme due à la déformation de l'habillage en matériau plastique lorsque la fibre est soumise à une traction. Deux fibres comportant de tels revêtements métalliques sur leurs âmes peuvent être épissées en plaçant simplement les extrémités revêtues des fibres dans un tube métallique et en soudant ou en collant les extrémités de ce tube. On peut aussi accoupler de cette façon des fibres optiques à d'autres composants optiques, tels que des sources lumineuses et des détecteurs de lumière.
