Abstract

The electrically powered pipe thread cutting pool for plumbers, operates on a pipe fixed in a vice. It has an integral casing (1) with separate openings (0, 12) for the insertion of the die and an anti-rotation bar, and has two hand grips (7, 8). The casing (1) contains a rotary helicoidal crown wheel (41) which includes the die opening (O). It also contains the electric motor (17) and reduction gearing. This has an endless screw (38) which meshes with the crown-wheel (41). The axis of the motor (17) is parallel to that of this screw. The system for clamping the die in position may use balls which are displaced radially through holes in each of two sleeves. The sleeves are mounted coaxially on each end of the crown wheel (41), and the balls are displaced by a suitably contoured rotating collar.
