Abstract

The heater has a vertical cylindrical water vessel (3) with an insulating jacket (4). Cold water enters through a coil (12) which terminates near the bottom of the vessel and hot water is drawn off (7) near the top. A gas burner (13) under the vessel discharges flue gases into a vertical cylinder (14) rising through the centre of the water vessel. The cylinder is closed at the top by a tube plate (16) from which vertical smoke tubes (17) rise to a smoke box (19) leading into a draught diverter (20). The termination of the smoke tubes near the top of the water vessel simplifies cleaning.
