Abstract
1,238,566. Boilers. EUROTHERM S.A. 14 Oct., 1969 [26 Nov., 1968], .No. 50436/69. Heading F4A. A boiler 1 for water or other liquids comprises a combustion chamber 7 surrounded by a water jacket 2 having feed and discharge means 3, 4, a flue formed by the space between a body 9 and the water jacket 2 and fitted with metal deflector members, and around the interior of the jacket 2 a hollow double-walled corrugated heat exchanger having feed and discharge means 17, 18. The flue gas outlet 8 and the body 9 which is in two parts, are removable for cleaning, and the deflector members are zigzag sheets arranged to provide a zigzag path for flue gases. The boiler is of circular cross-section and may be fired by a gas burner placed in the aperture 6, or, for example, by an oil burner in which case it is supported on a base 5. The heat exchanger 10 has inlet and outlet pipes 17, 18 and can be formed from two corrugated tubes joined by welded seams 15, 16, or from corrugated tubes joined by cover members. The corrugations may extend over the whole height of the heat exchanger 10. The water jacket 2 contains water for heating while the heat exchanger provides water for domestic use. The boiler may be arranged horizontally-instead :of vertically.
