Abstract

In a balance used in commerce the load platform acts against springs which are difficult to manufacture as matched sets. Addition of a flexible blade spring enables matching to be achieved. A balance has a load platform system which is balanced by four springs(6) in traction and fixed to part of the frame(7). One spring(6a) is attached to a screw(15) which passes freely through the frame to a blade spring(12) mounted via a spacer(14) on the frame. A movable cursor(15) enables the spring tension to be altered as required to achieve required balance operating characteristics.
