Abstract
956,718. Belt gearing; resilient mountings. SKF KUGELLAGERFABRIKEN G.m.b.H. Sept. 19, 1960 [Sept. 23, 1959], No. 32109/60. Addition to 935,031. Headings F2Q and F2S. [Also in Divisions D2 and E2] A support 10, Fig. 1, for a roller 11 tensioning a driving belt or tape 12 is hinged to a fixed bracket 3 by means of a loop 7 of flexible strip material clamped by bars 6, 8 respectively to the bracket and the support. The hingeing movement is limited by the bars 6, 8, themselves or by fixed or adjustable stops thereon. The loop 7 is formed by overlapping the ends of a flexible strip beneath the clamping bar 6. The loop may be stressed to act as a torsion spring, the clamping positions being selected to give the required bias in one direction, but as shown, the resilient bias is provided by a separate spring 13. A protective cap 4<SP>1</SP> for the loop may be secured to the bracket or the support. In a modification, two loops are clamped at an angle to each other, one above the other, to provide for hingeing movement in two planes. As shown in Fig. 2, a support 101 for a belt-tensioning and driving roller 11 combined with a friction wheel 11<SP>1</SP> driven by a wheel 15 is mounted on a bracket 3<SP>1</SP> by an assembly comprising upper and lower looped strips which are arranged at right angles and are stressed to act as springs respectively tensioning a belt 12<SP>1</SP> and providing the friction drive pressure.
