A pinch bar for moving railway wagons and the like has pivoted thereto at e a shoe f having cheeks #<SP>1</SP> to straddle a railway rail, the shoe ff<SP>1</SP> having on its under side a renewable lining of a substance offering substantial friction to slippage on the rail. The lining j made of material such as that known under the Registered Trade Mark " Ferodo " is secured to the shoe ff<SP>1</SP> by screws h. The bar comprises a pair of spaced light weight strips a between which is secured an extension d<SP>1</SP> of the operative nose of the bar. Protectors n to shield the hands are provided on the bar.
