Abstract
L'invention concerne un procédé perfectionnné pour la production de fibres de carbone, dans lequel on met en contact et on éloigne successivement à plusieurs reprises des fibres de précurseur consistant en filament continus carbonisables, de la surface d'un corps chauffé maintenu à une température d'environ 200 à 400 degrés C, dans une atmosphère de gaz oxydant, et ensuite on chauffe les fibres oxydées dans une atmosphère de gaz oxydant maintenue à une température d'au moins environ 800 degrés C. Selon l'invention, on utilise comme fibres de précurseur un fil de filaments entrelacés n'ayant sensiblement pas de frisures ou de boucles et comprenant des filaments continus entrelacés entre eux le long de la direction longitudinale à un degré tel que le facteur de cohérence du fil soit d'environ 20 à 100.
