Abstract

A seal is used for sealing stationary machine component against one rotatable relatively to it, particularly a pump shaft. It has a primary sealing part located in the stationary unit which comprises a slide ring arranged in a bowl-shaped housing with a base through-hole for the rotary machine part, and a bellows-shaped secondary seal. Between the primary seal and the housing base is a pressure spring. A second sealing part constituting the counter ring is connected to the rotatable machine part, and a retainer keeps the sealing parts connected under axial tension. This retainer projects with a widened end section through the housing through hole. The retainer (3) is formed as a housing extending between the counter ring (2) and the housing base (11).
