Abstract

PURPOSE:To seal the high inner pressure reliably by resiliently deforming a seal member having a cut groove by the pressure from the outside of the housing and pressure contacting against the circumference of the shaft. CONSTITUTION:A seal member containing chamber 4 is formed at the inner pressure side of a sliding shaft seal device 2 between a shaft 1 and the housing 3, where two seal members 5 are laminated axially in said chamber 4 and secured by a seal stopper member 8 not to move axially. Cut grooves 7 are provided at plural positions with same interval around a fitting hole 6 to the shaft 1, and two sealing members 5 are laminated while phase shifting the cut grooves 7 in the circumferential direction. A pressure guide path 9 is formed from the outside to the seal member containing chamber 4 in the housing 3 to press the seal member 5 toward the central section.
