Abstract

The joint is for sealing between two coaxial rotating parts, one only rotating. It has an annular deformable pocket (3), axially flat and elongating radially. This is bounded by rigid partitions (4,5,6) fixed to the rotating part (2) and by a flexible membrane (8) pressing axially against an annular track (11) on the fixed part (1). The pocket is filled with an incompressible liquid (L). When the joint is working centrifugal force acting on the liquid dilates the pocket axially and applies an annular zone against against the track. The pocket radial dimension is several times greater than its axial one.
