Abstract
Cooling water is circulated by a pump 74) from a radiator (3) through the engine (1). A branch circuit (10, 9) in parallel with this takes water round the carburetter (2) to preheat the mixture. A second branch circuit (12, 13) takes water to a heate (11) for the passenger compartment. A closed expansion tank (18) is connected to the circuit and has a removable cap (21) to maintain the pressure. The feed connection (22) from the tank joins the circulating system at a point (8) between the radiator and the pump (4). Vents (25, 26) from the high points of the branch circuits joint the vapour release pipe (24) from the radiator just before its entry (19) into the upper part of the expansion tank.
