Abstract

The connecting column is made up of a number of links joined together at the ends by a universal coupling which allows rotating motion in between the links of 180 degrees and a fixed angular motion. The top link carries a float on a pair of vertical support arms and is connected to a larger float by hinged arms. The links support vent pipes and supply pipes for the petroleum liquids being pumped or extracted from the tanks. The lowest link is fitted with an anchor to connect it to the tank.
